Because low permeability stainless steel has a low susceptibility to magnetic fields, which means that it is less affected by magnetic fields. When used in the construction of electromagnets, the low permeability stainless steel reduces the amount of energy required to generate a magnetic field and thus increases the efficiency of the electromagnet.
